1 Thessalonians 5:17   Pray without ceasing.

This is a cool salad for summer.  This is adapted  from a recipe of Patricia Yearwood’s.

2-4 lbs. seedless grapes – your choice:  red, white, black

1 8oz. pkg. cream cheese softened to room temperature (cut in half if using 2 lbs. grapes)

8 oz. container sour cream (cut in half if using 2 lbs. grapes)

2-4  tablespoons full of brown sugar – more or less to taste

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Wash and dry grapes and then cut them in half.  Mix the cream cheese, sour cream and brown sugar together.  Pour over the grapes and mix together.  Refrigerate for several hours to chill.  Top each serving with the chopped pecans just before serving.

Sorry I have not posted in a long time, but I have had some serious health issues for a year.  I am back and hope to share more recipes, hints/tips, etc. on this blog.  I was able to get the second cookbook finished while I was not feeling so well.  It has a lot of the recipes from the first cookbook with about 120 new recipes added.  The book contains 300 recipes.  I have personally prepared each of these recipes.  We have a Facebook page at:  Family Favorites II:  Second Helpings.

The books are $15.00 and with shipping they are $18.00.  If you order more than one I can calculate the shipping.  The profits from the book are donated to a local free meal program. I also have set up Paypal, so you can pay online, mail a check or money order.  If you mail payment the book will not be shipped until I receive payment.

Some of favorite recipes in the book are:  Baked French Toast, Cream Cheese Danish, Herbal Cheesecake,  Cottage Cheese Salad,  Carrot Dressing Casserole, Bean Enchilada Bake, Amish Friendship Bread, Candy Bar Cheesecake, Quick Peanut Butter Fudge and White BBQ Sauce.

I have been on a journey to complete my second Cookbook.  I wrote the first one when our children left home and then kept calling back asking how to make _______.  I decided that the best way to get everything together was to print a Cookbook.   To my delight and surprise people wanted to buy some of the books.  After I sold out people were still asking for cookbooks. 

I am constantly searching for new recipes and asking people to share their favorites with me.  I starting compiling recipes for another cookbook almost three years ago.  It is finally done, has been printed and has arrived.  This new book has a lot of the favorites from the first book, but it also has almost 125 NEW recipes.  This book has 300 recipes that have all been personally prepared by ME. 

My wonderful daughter has developed an ecommerce site and has set up a PayPal Account if you would like to purchase one.  There is a tab at the top of this page called:  Adele’s Cookbook.  The cost is $15.00 plus $3.25 for shipping/handling.  If you want multiple copies you can message or email me for the shipping costs.  They are also available for wholesale rates.

After I recover the costs for the printing at least 1/2 (if not all) of the profits will be donated to charity.  I hope some of these recipes that have become our Family Favorites might become some of your family’s favorites also.  Believe me, most of them you will want to have Second Helpings.

Psalm 119: 32  I run in the path of your commands, O Lord, for you have set my heart free.

I have finished editing my newest cookbook.  I will be selecting the cover, design, etc.  The only problem is that I don’t have a NAME for this new book.  It will contain 250 recipes that I have prepared for my family on Sunday dinners, church pot lucks and regular dinners.  The first book was “Family Favorites”, which is currently sold out.  This book has many of the recipes from Family Favorites, but many new recipes as well.  Let me know your creative titles.  If I choose your Title you will WIN a FREE cookbook when it is published.  Looking for some creative ideas.  Get Ready – Set – Go – Get Creative.

2 Thessalonians 3:3  The Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you form the evil one.

This was a dish at a recent Pot Luck.  I ask for the recipe and repeated it today for a family dinner.  It was a big hit.

2 cans carrots – drained and mashed with a fork or a pastry cutter

1/2 medium onion – sauteed in 3 T. margarine until translucent

1 box corn bread stuffing mix

1 stick margarine or butter – melted

1 can cream of mushroom soup

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Mix all together and place into a greased 2 quart casserole.  Bake in a 350^ oven for 30-35 minutes.  Great way to sneak carrots into your children’s diet.  This is a wonderful casserole.

Proverbs 15:1  A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

I catered a banquet last Thursday and prepared this sauce for the roasted Pork Loin and everyone said it was Great.    At our Church’s Free Meal today we also served this over Ham.

Equal parts of Apple Cider and Brown sugar

I used 1/2 gallon of Cider and 1 lb. of brown sugar – this made a LOT of sauce (enough for about 50 people)

1 large box of raisins ( use how many you like)

Heat the cider and brown sugar until the sugar melts.  Add the raisins.  Allow to sit overnight or cook for several minutes for the raisins to “plump” up.

Add cinnamon  and vanilla to taste.  You could also add other spices if you want:  ginger, cloves, etc.

I made a “slurry” of cornstarch and cider to thicken the sauce.

Several people took home the leftover sauce.  I think it would be excellent warm over vanilla ice cream and it would also make a good topping for Bread Pudding.
