Proverbs  12:25  An anxious heart weights a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

These are great to do with your children.  It takes a while for the sugar mold to dry, so not something you can complete in one day.

2 cups granulated sugar

4 T. water

Food color of your choice to your desired color

Mix the ingredients together.  Pack into the mold (use 1/2 of plastic eggs that are cut lengthwise).  Pack the sugar mixture in tightly.  Unmold onto wax or aluminum paper with the flat side down.  Allow to air dry overnight for small to medium shaped eggs.  Allow more time for larger eggs.  When the surface of the sugar feels hard, gentle turn over the mold.  The sugar should be dry at least 1/4 inch deep.  Gently scoop out the softer sugar.  Cut off a small amount of the pointed end of the mold to make the hole through which you will view the inside of the egg.  Allow the eggs to dry scooped out side up until completely dry.  Store the sugar that you scooped out in an airtight container, or make more eggs.

Place small pictures, animals, etc in one half of the egg.  If one side has a flattened bottom that is the side you want to make your picture/animals, etc. on.  Cement them to the egg with royal frosting.

After everything is completely dry cement the two halves together with royal icing.  Do this by piping a small amount on the seams and then after pressing the halves together pipe a decorative border in the middle and around the hole.  Decorate the top of the egg with royal icing flowers and leaves.

You can use this same mixture to place into molds for hearts, shamrocks or other shapes that you might be able to use for decorating cupcakes or cakes.

AdeleCookbookPhotoConcept_BackgroundDesign2John 6:27  Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Psalm 139:  13-14

Sorry I have not posted in a long time, but I have had some serious health issues for a year.  I am back and hope to share more recipes, hints/tips, etc. on this blog.  I was able to get the second cookbook finished while I was not feeling so well.  It has a lot of the recipes from the first cookbook with about 120 new recipes added.  The book contains 300 recipes.  I have personally prepared each of these recipes.  We have a Facebook page at:  Family Favorites II:  Second Helpings.

The books are $15.00 and with shipping they are $18.00.  If you order more than one I can calculate the shipping.  The profits from the book are donated to a local free meal program. I also have set up Paypal, so you can pay online, mail a check or money order.  If you mail payment the book will not be shipped until I receive payment.

Some of favorite recipes in the book are:  Baked French Toast, Cream Cheese Danish, Herbal Cheesecake,  Cottage Cheese Salad,  Carrot Dressing Casserole, Bean Enchilada Bake, Amish Friendship Bread, Candy Bar Cheesecake, Quick Peanut Butter Fudge and White BBQ Sauce.

These would make unique Christmas Presents.  I will sign the books as a free bonus.

Acts 20:32  I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

I have been on a journey to complete my second Cookbook.  I wrote the first one when our children left home and then kept calling back asking how to make _______.  I decided that the best way to get everything together was to print a Cookbook.   To my delight and surprise people wanted to buy some of the books.  After I sold out people were still asking for cookbooks.

I am constantly searching for new recipes and asking people to share their favorites with me.  I starting compiling recipes for another cookbook almost three years ago.  It is finally done, has been printed and has arrived.  This new book has a lot of the favorites from the first book, but it also has almost 125 NEW recipes.  This book has 300 recipes that have all been personally prepared by ME.

My wonderful daughter has developed an ecommerce site and has set up a PayPal Account if you would like to purchase one.  There is a tab at the top of this page called:  Adele’s Cookbook.  The cost is $15.00 plus $3.25 for shipping/handling.  If you want multiple copies you can message or email me for the shipping costs.  They are also available for wholesale rates.

After I recover the costs for the printing at least 1/2 (if not all) of the profits will be donated to charity.  I hope some of these recipes that have become our Family Favorites might become some of your family’s favorites also.  Believe me, most of them you will want to have Second Helpings.

Manna well be entering year number FIVE beginning in September.  I am constantly amazed at how God is working through Manna.  None of this would have been possible without all of the many volunteers and contributions from the NUMC family, community and other organizations.  I just completed some figures for a funding request for the Beef Cattle Association.  They have been wonderful supporters of Manna from the first year.  From July of 2011 to July 2012 we have served 9821 meals.  That is an average of 182 meals per week.  Because of the wonderful donations from God’s Hands Food Pantry, God’s Pantry and others who have donated meats and fresh produce, etc. we have been able to reduce our meal costs to about $.75 cents a meal.  This is down from last years costs of $1.25.  The increase last year was due to the increased number of take outs and the cost of the take out containers.  We have served a total of 24,078 meals through July 14th since we began the program in September of 2008.  If we average the number of diners that we have had so far this year we will serve over 9500 meals this year alone.  We could hit 10,000 meals this year, because two of our largest meals (Jamboree and Christmas) usually have more than the average number of diners.  With our average number of diners we are experiencing an increase of 18 diners per week over 2011.  New Beginning is continuing to serve the community with their clothing give away each month.  Fresh Start has given away as many as 80 bags of toiletries recently.  Together we are making a Difference in the community in God’s name.  We can always use more volunteers.  You will be more blessed than the time that you give.  Our volunteers range in range from 90+ to toddlers.  There is something for everyone to do.  Come and join us and help to expand the Kingdom here on Earth.

Psalm 119: 32  I run in the path of your commands, O Lord, for you have set my heart free.

I have finished editing my newest cookbook.  I will be selecting the cover, design, etc.  The only problem is that I don’t have a NAME for this new book.  It will contain 250 recipes that I have prepared for my family on Sunday dinners, church pot lucks and regular dinners.  The first book was “Family Favorites”, which is currently sold out.  This book has many of the recipes from Family Favorites, but many new recipes as well.  Let me know your creative titles.  If I choose your Title you will WIN a FREE cookbook when it is published.  Looking for some creative ideas.  Get Ready – Set – Go – Get Creative.

Philippians 4:13  I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible and so appropriate for this post.

My daughter has just started her own company.  She strongly believes in trying to help small businesses to reach their full potential.  Her company:   JMS Marketing Solutions has been developed to help those businesses gain exposure through internet and social media avenues.  If you have a business:  Do you have a website, do you have a Facebook and/or Twitter account, can you send out a newsletter?   If you have a small business and you do not have a web presence you are not in tune with the modern generation.  Contact JMC Marketing to find out how they can help you expand your business.  Their rates are very reasonable.  Their web site is:  www. jmsmarketingsolutions.com  Check out the link on My Blogroll.
