For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Psalm 139:  13-14

Sorry I have not posted in a long time, but I have had some serious health issues for a year.  I am back and hope to share more recipes, hints/tips, etc. on this blog.  I was able to get the second cookbook finished while I was not feeling so well.  It has a lot of the recipes from the first cookbook with about 120 new recipes added.  The book contains 300 recipes.  I have personally prepared each of these recipes.  We have a Facebook page at:  Family Favorites II:  Second Helpings.

The books are $15.00 and with shipping they are $18.00.  If you order more than one I can calculate the shipping.  The profits from the book are donated to a local free meal program. I also have set up Paypal, so you can pay online, mail a check or money order.  If you mail payment the book will not be shipped until I receive payment.

Some of favorite recipes in the book are:  Baked French Toast, Cream Cheese Danish, Herbal Cheesecake,  Cottage Cheese Salad,  Carrot Dressing Casserole, Bean Enchilada Bake, Amish Friendship Bread, Candy Bar Cheesecake, Quick Peanut Butter Fudge and White BBQ Sauce.

These would make unique Christmas Presents.  I will sign the books as a free bonus.

Acts 20:32  I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

I have been on a journey to complete my second Cookbook.  I wrote the first one when our children left home and then kept calling back asking how to make _______.  I decided that the best way to get everything together was to print a Cookbook.   To my delight and surprise people wanted to buy some of the books.  After I sold out people were still asking for cookbooks.

I am constantly searching for new recipes and asking people to share their favorites with me.  I starting compiling recipes for another cookbook almost three years ago.  It is finally done, has been printed and has arrived.  This new book has a lot of the favorites from the first book, but it also has almost 125 NEW recipes.  This book has 300 recipes that have all been personally prepared by ME.

My wonderful daughter has developed an ecommerce site and has set up a PayPal Account if you would like to purchase one.  There is a tab at the top of this page called:  Adele’s Cookbook.  The cost is $15.00 plus $3.25 for shipping/handling.  If you want multiple copies you can message or email me for the shipping costs.  They are also available for wholesale rates.

After I recover the costs for the printing at least 1/2 (if not all) of the profits will be donated to charity.  I hope some of these recipes that have become our Family Favorites might become some of your family’s favorites also.  Believe me, most of them you will want to have Second Helpings.

Philippians 4:13  I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible and so appropriate for this post.

My daughter has just started her own company.  She strongly believes in trying to help small businesses to reach their full potential.  Her company:   JMS Marketing Solutions has been developed to help those businesses gain exposure through internet and social media avenues.  If you have a business:  Do you have a website, do you have a Facebook and/or Twitter account, can you send out a newsletter?   If you have a small business and you do not have a web presence you are not in tune with the modern generation.  Contact JMC Marketing to find out how they can help you expand your business.  Their rates are very reasonable.  Their web site is:  www. jmsmarketingsolutions.com  Check out the link on My Blogroll.

Nehemiah 8:10  The joy of the Lord is your strength.

I am trying to lose another 30-40 lbs.  I have lost about 40 lbs. over the last few years by cutting back on portions, taking buns off of fast food sandwiches (when I had to eat out) and eating breakfast.  I am now trying to she the other pounds that I need to lose.

I get so hungry if I eat cereal or fruit for breakfast.  I think I need protien.  I found a recipe for a protien shake in at magazine that seems to be working.  I can’t testify to the weight loss, but I don’t get hungry for several hours after I have this shake and it is GOOD.  You choose a liquid:  carrot juice, unsweet cranberry juice, rice/almond/soy milk, pineapple juice or orange juice.  Then you add some fruit:  fresh/frozen blueberries, small banana, frozen peaches, frozen pineapple chunks or strawberries.  The third ingredient is 1 T. of chia seeds, ground flaxseeds or oat fiber.  The fourth is an oil:  1 T. of fish oil, flaxseed oil, walnut oil, almond butter or avocado oil.  This is put in a blender with a scoop of protien powder.

My shake has been:  1 scoop of soy protien power, 1 T. ground flax seeds,  Rice milk or Soy Milk (chocolate sometimes), peaches, strawberries or banana, 1 T. walnut oil.  I blend this up and drink.  It has been great and I do not get hungry until lunch time.  The taste is really great.  The chocolate/strawberry combination is really good.  Feel free to try other combinations.

The diet version says to have two of these shakes per day and then a dinner of lean protien and lots of veggies.

Isaiah 63:  7  I will tell you of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, ……..

Today I turned “60”.  It is amazing that I don’t feel any older than about 40, but maybe 60 is the new 40.  I have really good genes so my hair has a litle gray, but it is naturally ash blond, so it looks like more highlights.  I have a few wrinkles around the eyes, but compared to a lot of other people not many.

Until this time I have few health problems.  I manage to do about anything that I want, within reason.  I do find that I don’t work as fast as I did in my earlier years.  I also like to take an afternoon nap, but I always wanted to do that, but I just never had the time.  I continue to try to get healthier and lose some weight (a few pounds each month) by controlling portions, eating only one carb per meal, etc.

I am involved in a wonderful volunteer effort at the church:  Manna Meal (check out the link from this website).  I am knitting hats/scarves for the Christmas meal next year,  I make Magnetic Hematite bracelets to help ease arthritis pain.  Hubby and I grow a garden and I can the produce each summer, wonderful tomatoe juice for the winter.    I am working on two cookbooks.  I enjoy my “8” grandchildren and my wonderful husband.  I continue to explore new crafts and ideas.  I’ve discovered FaceBook and Twitter (not really a fan of Twitter).  I enjoy/love UK sports.  So I would say my life is full.

The life expectancy for those in our 60’s is computed to be about 100.  Amazing that I might have another 40 years to live.  What will God have in mind for those years????  Who knows, but I hope I will open to his leading and ready/willing to act on his wishes.  I thank God for the last wonderful 60 years and look forward to many more.

1 Corinthians 13  4-7  Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not enjoy, it does not boast, it is not pround.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered.  It keeps no record of wrongs…. but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.

This year is a New Beginning.  I have reached over 40,000 hits and Hubby has retired.  This will be a year of discovery and adjustment.  His retirement will allow me more free time.  Maybe I can complete the two+ cookbooks I have in the works, maybe I can get the craft/sewing room cleaned up, maybe I can get the house de-cluttered/organized.  We have begun.  I have set aside a box in the basement that is intended for Good Will or out Church’s Mountain Mission pickup.  One thing out and 3-5 OUT.

I have a problem with “trashing” things.  Most of the things I want to get rid of are still usage.  My friend says that I am a “conduit”, that I transfer things from one point to another.  I hope I have a few more places to transfer things to.  I have to develop a philosophy of:  If I haven’t used it in the last two years I probably don’t need it (unless it is a Shop VAC or something that might be needed).  Ha!  Hubby is supposed to start on the garage this week.  We have every old light fixture that we have taken down in rental units.  He is a serious problem also.

Really, we have been so busy with him working, my baby-sitting, etc. that we have just piled things up.  We are serious about getting things out of there.  I have already gone through most of the clothing.  Craft things and old light fixtures, etc. are next.

Wish us luck as we enter a new Phase of our Lives.  Life is an Adventure.
