Vacation Time

John 15:  12-13   Jesus said, “Love each other as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

I have neglected my Blog.  Sorry !?!?!!?  I have assumed financial control of my son’s Construction business.  He is a wonderful visionary and designer, but does not have the gift of budgeting, etc.  I may consider consulting after this.  I have managed convenient stores, managed Real Estate rentals and estimated repairs on foreclosures.  Pray that I have the knowledge to make this business cash flow.

Shortly after assuming this responsibilty we went on vacation (already planned) to see our daughter, son-in-law and GK #1 and GK #6 who live in Colorado.  It was in the 60′s when we arrived, but we were there for the Blizzard of 2009, which lasted two days.  It was in the 60′s when we left on Sunday.

Really relaxing to play with the GKs, cook, eat, rest, relax, etc.  We took a drive through the mountains. 

Now it is time to get back in the swing of things.  Manna Meal next week,  Home and Garden Show this weekend and hopefully more menu plans, cookbook plans, etc.

Winter War Zone

Psalm 37:4  Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Weather is definately the ultimate unpredictable Lady.  Our area had 1/2 – 3/4 inch of ice topped off with rain and then almost 3 inches of snow.  Our house has lovely mature trees (or it did) around it.  We will lose about 7 trees due to the storm.  The amazing thing is that several are on the roof and we do not think there is any damage.  When we came home last night we did not park where we normally park and a tree limb fell 2 feet behind our vehicle.  One limb is still straddling the powerline, but as of now – No Power Outage.  We have been tremendously lucky. 

It makes you realize that what was yesterday may not be tomorrow.  I think the lesson here is what you make out of YOUR tomorrow.  The two trees we will lose in the back will make a lovely spot for an herb garden.  I have wanted to have one close to the house, but too much shade.  Ha!!

We cannot contact anyone near our Lake House which is in Western Ky.  That area has been harder hit than here.  We have a Walnut tree growing out of the deck.  If it came down, we probably don’t have a house.  The power is probably out, so the waterbed maybe an icecube that freezes and bursts.  It is amazing how at peace I am with this.  These are only THINGS. 

As I grow older and wiser I have learned that although some things are priceless: photos, family heirlooms, etc.  They are only THINGS.  All of our family is safe and well.  THINGS can be replaced.  The important things are:  God’s forgiveness, Family, Love and Caring.
