Let me introduce myself
April 4, 2007 by akentuckycreation
My spirit given gift is that of “care”. I constantly find myself caring for family, friends and sometimes strangers. I hope to use this blog to reach out to others that it would be impossible to meet face to face. My experiences from many jobs, volunteer activities and being a wife/mother/grandmother have taught me many things.
I love to cook and have self-published a cookbook. One of my many jobs was to own/manage a restaurant and bowling alley. I have also managed a baseball concession stand and cooked for 300+ for church dinners. Most Sundays have our clan dining with 8-12 people in attendance.
Crafting has also been a passion of mine. Not just one particular craft. I enjoy: quilting, painting, loom knitting and other various crafts. I have taught craft classes and am currently knitting prayer shawls with a loom for our church.
My husband and I have invested in real estate since the mid 1980’s. We have rental properties and also “flip” properties. We joking say we should have made one of those infomercials. We have bought properties with no money down. We buy at auction, regular real estate posts and directly from property owners. We do a lot of the repairs ourselves and have learned many tricks in the 20+ years we have been doing this.
I love sports of all kinds and all three of our children were very active in many highschool and college sports. We still enjoy attending major league class A baseball in our town. Of course Kentucky basketball is in any native Kentuckian’s blood.
As I grow in my faith I look for ways to reach out to people to share my knowledge in the spirit that Christ would have shared with love. This blog will be to share not only ideas, recipes, helpful hints but also inspiration.
Love your new blog….as always, I learn so much from you!! CB
Thanks Cheryl. I feel like you and I may be “soul” sisters. Of course you would be the younger sister. I see a lot of myself in you at the same age. I hope that my years can pass on some experiences that may make some young mothers lives easier.
Great blog! I am sure it will be an inspiration to all who visit. Our successes are not measured in what we accomplish or obtain, but our successes are measured in the lives we touch. This is your forum to make a differnce in someone’s life.
Read everything and enjoyed it all! The comments about Mother’s Day touched me, since I was acquainted with your mother. I took my mother to Hawai’i last summer and we had a blast. She even did a zipline with us! It’s a trip and time we both cherish. You and I have been blessed with friendships with our mothers.
Sometimes we forget who our best friends have been in our lives. Sometimes we don’t know how we touch others. I hope you know what your friendship has meant to me. It was good to see comments from MAL on your blog. I just can’t believe we have grandchildren. Aren’t we still 35?
What a wonderful blog. I appreciate you visiting my site and leaving the invite. I’m going to try the white bean chicken chili this weekend. Thanks!
Thank you for visiting my site and leaving a comment. You were the first! I’m new at blogging as I’m reinventing myself. For 15 years I worked in the “old media” of newspapers and am working on a master’s degree in graphic design to work in the “new media” online. Wish me luck!
Hi - finally getting around to visiting your blog. Looks great and it’s always good to see other bloggers trying to reach out and help the world in whatever way they can!
Good luck!
Thanks for your comment on my Lillian’s Cupboard blog which led me to yours. You have a lot of interesting information and I’ll be checking back to see what else you come up with!
Lillian
Hello! Thanks for sending me a link to your blog; I’ve been needing to try something new in the food department, so it’ll be nice to see what you have. Southern food is always the best!
Great to read your blog and see all the wonderful verses. Sounds like we have a bit in common (self-published cookbook, etc.). Thanks for your comment on my page.
Jen
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am not sure how I missed your comment or I would have been by sooner. Happy blogging and may the Lord bless your ministries!
Hello! I hope you don’t mind that I add you to my blogroll on both my blogs. (Yarn Tails and Strands of Purls & YT Recipes)
I noticed you have several interests in common with me. Namely recipes, crafts (loom knitting in particular), family and faith. I enjoyed browsing your blog.
God Bless!
Susie
