Proverbs 19:11
A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
Did you know you can make your own Brown Sugar???? I didn’t until I watched Martha Stewart this week. I knew there was molasses in brown sugar, but I never dreamed that you could make your own. Guess what — you can. To make light brown sugar you use 1 cup of regular sugar and 1 1/2 T of molasses. Put this into a food processor and pulse until blended. No more ‘bricks’ of brown sugar, just make what you need for your recipe. If you want the dark brown version use 3 T of molasses. I looked at the cost of making your own brown sugar compared to buying it and it is much more economical to make your own, not to mention that you are now throwing away those “bricks” that you can’t break up to use.
Martha also gave information to turn those hard “bricks” into useable sugar. You can put a piece of bread or a slice of apple in a sealed bag to soften the brown sugar. I have not tried this yet, but I definately will when I begin some baking this fall.
You need to come and see what Grandma has to say if you are interested in saving money and/or pinching pennies. 100’s of ideas on over 80 pages.
I will definately check out the blog. I am always interested in ideas to save money.
