John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
I have had a very busy month so far and have neglected blogging. I have had a lot of babysitting this month and also started helping out Son #1 with his construction company. I am the “new girl” in the office for a few hours each morning. With Easter coming this month also I have had many church activities.
Yesterday we officially opened a new 13,000 square foot addition to our church. Our church is a downtown church. We consciously made the decision to stay downtown to minister to the community instead of moving out of town to sterile piece of land. We had wonderful response from the community yesterday. We have a community center that will seat about 350 for dinner and 500+ in chairs, an industrial type kitchen and meeting rooms. We want to reach out to our community. How that will happen will evole, but is already starting.
With this new facility we have also initiated a new comtemporary service. Our LOST (Local Outreach Support Team) had goal of inviting and getting 50 new people to come to this service today. We counted about 30 NEW folks and some people who had attended previously which we had not seen in a long time. Some of our regular attenders are supporting that service also and we had 205 in attendance today.
My Easter celebration began at 4am today. I am NOT a morning person, so this was definately a labor of love for me to get up this early. A group of us cooked for a Breakfast which was served after the Sunrise Service. We served from 7am to 9am and then set the leftovers in the hallway. We think we fed about 200 people this morning.
We had a wonderful service. Our weather was great today like the universe was saying “rejoice in the wonderful gift that I have given you in my Son, Jesus Christ”. I think all Christians are an “Easter Kind of People”. As I reflect on what our Saviour did for us I am always in awe. I know I am not worthy and that is what makes it so amazing that he cared enough to die for me. Thank you Lord.
You probably won’t hear from me for a week or so because I am flying out to see GK #1 and GK #6 who are now living in Colorado. My husband has not seen GK #6 yet, so he is looking forward to seeing her. I’ll talk to everyone when I get back.
