Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you, he will never leave you not forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
My latest doctor’s appointment showed no improvement in my cholesterol. This is a mixed bag. My “good” cholesterol is really high and my triglycerides are really “low”, but the “bad” cholesterol is above the limit that is now regarded as good (138). I took one of the statins but had side effects (muscle pain, etc.) I have been on Zetia for over a year. It is not done ANYTHING to lower the cholesterol. My Dr. wants me to try another statin, but I have reservations. I want to try to get my weight down and see how that effects my total cholesterol. I need to drop another 50-60 lbs. I dropped 20 lbs. a little over 2 years ago. After reading and researching the statistics it seems that my problem is borderline, so I hope to be able to control this with losing some weight.
I am going to use a diet geared to my metabolism and life style. That will be a “low” fat modified Adkins diet. I will be eating every 2-3 hours. My blood sugar tends to drop if I don’t eat frequently. My husband thinks I am crazy and should eat three meals. He just does not understand my metabolism. I also do not tolerate a lot of crabs well, I get hungry very fast after eating a lot of carbs. I will also be taking Sunday’s off. That means I will eat some fried foods, more carbs, etc. BUT
not go crazy.
I started this last Saturday and I have already dropped four pounds. I am eating breakfast , lettuce wraps, snacking on nuts/dried fruits, stir fry, grilled meats, no snacks after dinner except low fat pretzels, etc.
This new meal plan means a lot of preparation, but I am worth it. I don’t really spend a lot of time on myself. If I don’t spend some time on me there might not be any me to be around for the family and friends. I suddenly realized that spending time on me is an investment in time for me to be around for my family. I know they would want me to do this.
Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. I hope by next year at this time I will have reached my goal, or almost. That is about 1-2 lbs per week.
You are most definitely worth it!
